Description

Wedding cabinets in China were given as part of a bride’s dowry, along with their contents. They were normally in black or red lacquer, often with beautiful paintings of landscapes or flora and fauna. These modern versions are in a plain lacquer, decorated with a large brass plates on the doors which are etched with animals from the Chinese zodiac. They have a hanging rail and removable shelves on the inside so can be used either as a wardrobe or for more general storage.
